I’m (more) seriously thinking of melding together my art blog and this blog into one new blog. Then there would be just one me out in the big world for people to read about instead of two. The thought of it feels scary and liberating. I suppose there’d have to be some editing, but maybe that wouldn’t be too hard? Part of the scariness is that the art world is pretty much the opposite of warm and fuzzy, and I’d have to be more careful than I am here. I’m going to look more at other artists who have personal, public blogs.
I am still working on what the title would be.
What do you, dear reader, think of this idea?
How would you feel about me linking to your blog on the new blog?
fyi: my art blog is: gettingtoknowyoubetter-at-wordpress.com
Please please please tell me what you think about this merger…. If you don’t, I might cry. Just kidding.

I just re-read the art blog . . . so well-crafted and insightful.
The more I think about it, there seems to be a need for each distinct voice to be expressed. I wonder if you couldn’t continue to speak from each “world” and present them on one blog site. It could be quite an interesting, multi-faceted (like you!) blog.
On the other hand, there’s a level of intimacy expressed in the mother site that may have to be messed with somehow to be readable in the art world.
I think if your art blog was more about your own work, or own process, then I would merge them. Based on what I read, I don’t think would meld well.
It is so interesting to hear you say that the art world is not warm and fuzzy. I never thought about it like that, but that is so true. Most work worlds are not warm and fuzzy, and I was always shocked that something a kind of work that was so personal couldn’t be more supportive and warm.
Art school was such a cold and dark place for me that I ended up landing in the IT world of all places, where it is very warm and nice surprisingly.
I say fuse away!
Unless you want the other to be for your profession and then I would say keep separate. Am I making sense? So I guess to clarify, if you are out there, doing things as an artist would you send them to the other blog? If you have a card to hand out to potential clients? galleries?, would you list the other site? If not, then I stick with my first inclination, fuse away.
I do think it is important to keep personal separate from professional. But the other site (to me) seems like your take on art, which is your opinion, and which would be appropriate here.
@ A Fan: Hi Mom, I love you.
@ Amelia S: You’re right! and I forgot to mention that I’ll soon be working on a collaborative art blog, writing about other artists’ work; so, the content of my own art blog would become less about others’ work and more about my own ponderings.
@ jen: The fused blog wouldn’t necessarily be *for* my profession, and I wouldn’t actively advertise it. But I wouldn’t be anonymous, and the blog wouldn’t be hard to find, as I’d link to sites in the art community. It would be a mixing of my mother self and artist self. I guess the people I’m hoping would read it would be all of you, plus other artists. This is confusing and headache inducing.
I don’t think you should meld the worlds. I’d be worried about your censoring yourself when you blog about parenty stuff due to it also having an arty audience.
The only reason I would say meld the two is because I can harldy keep up with one vs two. And since I have an Art degree, I would like both. But that is just me speaking….
