We gave Mister Finn peas and he looked at us in utter disgust, insulted, like “WHY would you put this in my mouth?” Then he gagged dramatically and threw up. Bananas had a similar fanfare. There is an element of betrayal in his facial expressions. Too bad when this happens because then we have to wait a week to try a new food. (He has mild excema so we are being cautious.) He’s not really keen on anything so far except pears, and after half a jar, they, too, end in tears. I don’t know if it all just gets to be too much at some point? Are babies generally emotional eaters?

I love baby food myself and always volunteered to feed my sisters kids so I could snarf up the last bits. From personal experience, I’d say go with some prunes next. Sweet deliciousness. Beware of unintended butt-related concequenses:)
I’m clueless. What does excema have to do with trying new foods? Possible allergies?
Hell if I know–Simone seems very temperamental about eating as well. And I’ve been told so many times about how common it is for preemies to have feeding issues that it gives me the vapors every time she refuses something. But really, can you blame Finn? Would YOU want to eat a spoonful of pureed peas? I think carrots and sweet potatoes were the most popular for us (*I* thought the sweet potatoes were actually quite tasty).
Luca was a MAJOR gagger. Still is on occasion. Is Finn eating rice or oatmeal cereal? That was always something Luca would tolerate and I would mix in a bit of pureed fruit or veggies, which he tolerated and even grew to enjoy. He never made it to the stage 2 jarred baby foods – too gag inducing for him. But he did start to eat more of a variety by nine months or so. Also – a friend of mine recently convinced her six month old to try different foods by putting a bit on the cap of a baby bottle for him eat the purees off of. It’s been the main way he eats for awhile now!
